Auto Body Technician Position Summary: The Body Shop Technician is responsible for performing accurate repairs and straightening of vehicle frames on all makes and models of automobiles. S/he restores damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition and should be restored, following the written repair order and company operational excellence processes. S/he plays a key role in delivering on the companies promise of speed, quality, and customer satisfaction. S/he is responsible for providing fast, accurate, high-quality, efficient mechanical repairs. S/he is responsible for nurturing and cultivating a positive culture and work environment that aligns with the mission and values of the organization.
What will you be responsible for?
- Performs quality repairs without passing on defects.
- Meets or exceeds company requirements for productivity as measured by hours per day for each repair order.
- Utilizes the technical information sheet attached to the work order for all structural repairs, replacement, airbag, and mechanical work.
- Fit and weld replacement parts into place, using wrenches and welding equipment, and grind paper to protect them from the paint.
- De-trims and disassembles vehicles, putting parts on parts carts.
- Performs pre-pulls to make repair vs. replace decisions.
- Assist with maintaining parts/materials carts in an organized manner.
- Help problem-solve on vehicles assigned to other team members.
- Remove damaged sections of vehicles using metal-cutting guns, air grinders, and wrenches, and install replacement parts using wrenches or welding equipment.
- Chain or clamp frames and sections to alignment machines that use hydraulic pressure to align damaged components.
- Follows companies’ quality control processes and meets the return rate target.
- Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and follows proper repair procedures.
- A continuous focus on safety; Follow and adhere to all company safety policies, rules, and training.
- Will participate in ongoing technical education.
- Participates in team & safety meetings and utilizes information on the job.
- Keeps personal work area organized and returns tools, materials, and equipment to designated areas.
Do you have the necessary education and experience?
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- Auto Body Vo-Tech certified preferred
- ASE certification desirable
- 3-5 years automotive body technician experience required.
What are the work hours?
- Regular work hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Employee hours vary and are dependent on business needs.
- The position is 40+ hours per week, Monday through Friday, with evening and weekends as needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.
