Western Nebraska Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of Residence Life Specialist for our Scottsbluff, Nebraska Campus. This 12-month position is required to live in the residence halls and will work a varied schedule of day, night, weekend, overnight and on-call hours. The position includes a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, a 19-meal per week plan in the dining hall for the employee's use, and an excellent benefits package.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall direction and supervision of WNCC's Residence Life functions, which includes the 300-student residence hall operation on Scottsbluff's campus, and co-oversight of the 24-student apartment style operation on Sidney's campus. It requires night and evening duties and appropriate handling of emergency or crisis situations as they arise. Respond to incidents and occurrences with students and participate in the student conduct/investigation process.
Provide leadership of the creation and implementation of activities and operations of the college housing/residential life program and services; development and implementation of a comprehensive first year initiatives program; and coordination and enhancement of the summer camps and conferences program. Directly supervising professional residence hall coordinators and student residential assistants, the Specialist plays a critical role in shaping students' out of classroom learning opportunities. Evening and weekend work and travel is required. This position collaborates with other college programs and events, including Alliance and Sidney campuses, which create an engaged, diverse, and healthy campus experience for the Western Nebraska Community College student body.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in student affairs, higher education, educational leadership, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Three years of increasingly responsible experience in housing, campus activities, student leadership development and/or student engagement offices, and experience in student conduct, orientation, alcohol and drug education, large and small event planning preferred. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance. Certified in First Aid and CPR.
Salary:
Commensurate. Includes a 2-bedroom apartment with kitchen, employee meal plan, and excellent benefits.
