Western Nebraska Community College is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Students.
Responsibilities: This 12-month, full-time Student Services position will serve as a generalist dean engaging with, and providing follow-up services to students, faculty, and various stakeholders who contact the Dean of Students office or Student Services. The Assistant Dean will provide highly collaborative leadership and coordination for intervention, resources, and support to all students on a broad range of issues (particularly for students whose behavior has raised a concern or need general assistance navigating the college environment), and addressing questions and concerns brought forward by students, family/guardians, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. Will serve as an impartial facilitator in supporting, and resolving issues pertaining to conduct, crisis, personal welfare, and financial matters. These concerns are often of a sensitive nature and may not have a formal avenue of redress through official college channels. Given the nature of this role, the Assistant Dean of Students interacts with various departments, community-based agencies, as well as with faculty, staff, administrators, and student guardian/family members to facilitate satisfactory solutions to issues and problems that fall within the responsibilities of the Dean of Students Office and Student Services. This position requires broad programmatic engagement, provide student support, and incident response responsibilities, and serve as a Title IX deputy. This position will develop and lead efforts surrounding New Student Orientation, Health and Wellness work, and oversight for the Host Family Program. Assists in the coordination of Student Services' response to major crisis and other unusual events within the college community. This position also provides support and leadership to other college programs, services, and events, including Alliance and Sidney campuses, which create an engaging, diverse, and healthy campus experience for the Western Nebraska Community College student body.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required and master's preferred from an accredited college or university with major course work in student personnel administration, educational leadership, counseling, or higher education or related field. Four years of increasingly responsible post-secondary experience in professional student affairs/student development work, including two years of supervisory or lead responsibility. Direct experience working with diverse entities including students, student parents/guardians, faculty, staff, police, college administrators, and community human service professionals preferred. Experience working with students who are under stress and have experienced personal crisis and related trauma, including sexual assault, domestic and intimate partner violence preferred. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance. Ability to be certified in First Aid and CPR.
Salary: Commensurate.
