Dent Med-Oral and Craniofacial Sciences - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23008414)

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Goodwin Lab at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. The Goodwin lab is located in the Salk Research Pavilion, a state-of-the-art lab space in a dynamic, collaborative environment with other labs affiliated with the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration and Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics. The lab is focused on understanding mandibular development and postnatal growth/adaptation of the mandibular condyle in the context of craniofacial anomalies and skeletal malocclusion utilizing mouse models. We are seeking a highly motivated, independent individual with a strong work ethic to join our team. A collaborative spirit and willingness to train students and work with colleagues within the School and University is required. A strong background in developmental and/or craniofacial biology is preferred.


Duties or responsibilities:

Mouse handling/breeding, histology, immunostaining, molecular biology, and microscopy are required

MicroCT and RNA-sequencing experiment analysis is preferred

Experience in bioinformatics and big data analysis is highly desirable

Qualifications or expectations:

Doctorate degree (PhD, DDS, and/or MD) in a biomedical or related field is required

Prior basic research lab experience in STEM fields with an interest in conducting studies in craniofacial biology utilizing mouse models is required

Applicants must also have effective written and verbal skills in English

Applicant must have the ability to mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory, and a desire to collaborate with colleagues with different backgrounds such as clinicians, basic scientists, and engineers within the School and University.

The selected candidate will benefit from the unique working and training environment of the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration. The CCR is comprised of a diverse team of clinicians, basic scientists, and clinical researchers, and is a joint center between Pitt Dental Medicine and the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine.
