Physical Requirements
This position requires regularly standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; intermittently lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing over 50 pounds, and standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and occasionally sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and working in confined spaces. Also involves some job-related travel (less than 10% of time); exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.
Shift
Must be able to work three 12.5-hour shifts per week; shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and/or swing. Will also be required to work some weekends and holidays.
Job Summary
The Paramedic will work in the Level 1 Trauma Center to compliment the nursing role. Duties of this position include performing patient care duties utilizing a team approach in collaboration with RNs, MDs, and other members of the comprehensive health care team; and organizing, prioritizing, and delivering direct patient care based on determined scope of practice within the hospital setting.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will have clinical care experience, including monitoring vital signs; inserting IVs, NGTs, and urinary catheters; assisting with 12 lead EKGs; assisting with wound care; assisting with suctioning; and completing proper documentation.

Preferred Education/Experience
High School diploma or higher and three years of paramedic experience preferred. Current Kentucky Paramedic certification or licensure, and Nationally Registered EMT ( NREMT), American Heart Association ( BLS), ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
