Learning Center Coordinator

Penn State Abington seeks an academic professional to oversee the Learning Success Center and campus-wide training of peer mentors, and support students in need of academic skills development.

The Coordinator provides leadership and administrative oversight for the development, implementation, and assessment of learning support opportunities that assist with student academic success and retention. The Coordinator will have direct responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the Learning Success Center, to include creating and managing the Center's budget; hiring, training, and supervising tutors. They will collaborate with the English and ESL faculty and the Math and Sciences faculty to design and to implement student learning initiatives; developing and utilizing data to guide decision-making; preparing funding proposals; and writing reports intended to educate stakeholders regarding program outcomes and new opportunities for enhancing student success and retention. The Coordinator will work with the Sr. Coordinator for Student Success to design and implement initiatives for students on Academic Warning. They will coordinate, recruit and administer the peer mentor training directly for the Welcome Peer Leader program, which assists new students in their transition form high school to Penn State Abington (this includes orientation). The Coordinator will also assist other campus offices/departments with their peer mentor training.

The Candidate should also have a commitment to ongoing training and professional development. This position requires a master's degree and 3 years relevant experience. Master's degree is preferred in English or Composition/Rhetoric, Higher Education, or closely related field or an equivalent of education and related experience in Learning or Writing Centers preferred. www.Abington.psu.edu
