Job Description: This position is located in the Business Office at Oregon Institute of Technology, an institution of higher education serving over 5,000 students. The purpose of the Business Office is to administer all financial affairs related to the support of the institution. The Business Office functions include accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, purchasing, financial aid accounting, and general accounting. The purpose of this position is to accurately account for all cash transactions using computerized accounting. This position matches all deposits to daily cash reports, assists with inputting journal vouchers on the fnance system, reconciles accounts and assists with auditing petty cash funds. All cash receipts in payment of tuition, fees, other charges on student’s accounts, safekeeping deposits from other departments are received, balanced and posted to a computerized information system. All cashier cash disbursements are recorded on Banner SIS.
Classification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; OR Bachelor’s degree with 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of college-level Accounting, OR 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of Accounting courses and three years of Accounting experience. Accounting experience must include at least 3 of the following: Preparing transactions to be recorded in records of original entry; Preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries; Summarizing data from a ledger to a trial balance; Closing accounts at the end of an accounting period; Applying PC spreadsheet, database, and word processing software;
Preferred Qualifications: Higher Education experience
Additional Requirements: Knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, & Word.
