Job Description
The Ohio University Foundation's mission is “Philanthropy in Service to Education.” The Foundation and its subsidiaries have net assets totaling approximately $650 million, and the financial reporting manager will have the opportunity to manage the 990 and accounting for this large and complex nonprofit organization while supporting the advancement of higher education. The incumbent will have the opportunity to interact with the Audit Committee of The Foundation Board and will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid work environment.
General position overview:
The Financial Reporting Manager provides oversight of and accounting expertise for all aspects of The Ohio University Foundation's accounting and financial reporting functions, and ensures financial reports meet the needs of various constituent groups and comply with all applicable accounting standards. The incumbent uses data extraction tools and Microsoft Excel to design and compile various interim and year-end financial reports related to all aspects of the Foundation's financial activities. The Financial Reporting Manager directly supervises one full-time accountant and needs limited direct supervision. The incumbent analyzes and resolves complex accounting and financial reporting.

Pay Rate
The targeted salary range for pay grade 18 is $58,972 to $95,664 The salary negotiated at the time of offer will be commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity. Position responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting – Designs and compiles various interim and year-end financial reports, related to all aspects of The Ohio University Foundation's financial activities, for management, the board of trustees, auditors, tax advisors, and others. Works closely with tax advisors to compile the annual IRS Form 990, and with external auditors to facilitate the year-end audit. Drafts The Ohio University Foundation's financial statements and footnote disclosures. Analyzes financial information, including revenues, expenses and balance sheet accounts. Communicates pertinent financial information to management. Incorporates subsidiary accounting data into the Foundation's consolidated financial statements.
- Manages compliance with regulatory agencies. Compiles information and reviews information compiled by external service providers, as needed, to coordinate and complete required filings related to charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities and state fundraising registrations.
- Transaction Processing, Review and Oversight - Initiates or approves various Foundation transactions recorded in the general ledger, and oversees the reconciliation of Foundation accounts, to ensure the proper accounting treatment of the Foundation's financial activities. Provides assistance and training to staff and customers to correct accounting errors and prevent future errors. Monitors and/or maintains the Foundation gift account database, which is used to compile and report donor-imposed restrictions on the Foundation's gift account balances.
- Accounting Standards – Monitors Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) standards as they relate to the Foundation's financial reporting requirements. Responsible for implementing new pronouncements and maintaining compliance with all applicable accounting standards.
- Process Analysis – Analyzes the Foundation's current accounting processes, internal controls and chart of accounts. Recommends and implements accounting process improvements and chart of accounts modifications to meet financial reporting needs and enhance financial reporting capabilities. Assists with drafting or revising the Foundation's financial policies and practices.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Eight (8) plus years of foundation accounting/accounting experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in accounting, business or related field
- CPA preferred
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is necessary.
- Specialized and thorough knowledge of non-profit accounting is required.
- Must be able to determine root cause issues and work collaboratively with customers and other stakeholders to streamline and improve processes in a manner that simultaneously meets operational objectives and maintains compliance with various policies, procedures and regulations.
- Must be able to use data extraction tools and leverage Excel to analyze large data sets, then convert the information into succinct reports that accurately capture pertinent financial information.
