Job Summary:
Provides leadership by building, developing, training and supervising the School of Communication's academic mission. Assists faculty in identifying, exploring and implementing relevant software, hardware, and pedagogical technology strategies. Assists with development and implementation of learning environments and classroom strategies. Plans technology responses and assists faculty with learning technology support and Instructional Design.
Please note: Must carry cell phone for emergency contact. Occasional evening or weekend hours. May have some blended/hybrid days, but also some on-campus days.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develops, schedules and coordinates project plans for classroom and lab builds, renovations and upgrades, works with faculty to assure the School is a leader in campus computing. Represents the School and its academic computing agenda across campus. Provides leadership in evaluation, selection, and implementation of academic support systems and practices.
- Consults with faculty about smart classrooms, labs, and other computing needs and develops plans for School support and project budgets.
- Provides technical leadership in understanding, maintaining, and deploying new and existing technologies for instruction and research.
- Leads and develops support to specialized areas (RTVF equipment cage, WNUR, etc.) to maintain service levels to students and faculty.
- Supervises a team of AV engineers and techicians. Supervises production and streaming activities.
- Develops and coordinates events and programs to inform faculty about new instructional technology.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships, manage contract details and adherence a service level agreements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in project management in higher education.
- Minimum of 5 years' management experience.
- Demonstrated ability managing complex technology projects from conception to completion.
- Demonstrated personnel management and talent development skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and time management skills. Displays respect for the time of others.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively control and participate in multiple projects of varying priorities in a consistently professional manner.
- Ability to deliver projects on-time and on-budget.
- Ability to be flexible and graceful in uncontrollable changes/situations.
- Ability to act on own initiative to further organizational and University goals
- Demonstrated skill analyzing problems from multiple points of views.
- Ability to lead consensus building within groups of varying viewpoints. Ability to translate consensus into planned action
- Master's degree in a related field
