The Department of Nursing in the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah University invites applications for a full-time/term-tenure track or clinical track Nursing faculty position.

 

Qualifications:  Minimum of Master of Science degree in nursing with appropriate clinical practice certifications; doctoral degree in nursing highly preferred (PhD or DNP), or current enrollment in doctoral study. Graduate preparation in nursing education and certification in nursing education (CNE) highly preferred. If not doctorally prepared, must commit to a plan to begin doctoral education within five years of hire. Previous  didactic and clinical teaching experience preferred. Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing and intensive care nursing is preferred. Candidate should have a commitment to excellence in teaching in a Christian liberal arts setting and to ongoing scholarship, service, and practice in nursing. Must have a current, valid professional nursing license in the state of Pennsylvania.

 

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include teaching in the classroom and clinical nursing settings. Course responsibilities may include: Adult and Older Adult, Critical Care, Foundations of Nursing Practice, Health Assessment, Historical and Conceptual Basis for Nursing, Pharmacology, and Pathophysiology, depending on qualifications. Doctorally prepared candidates (PhD or DNP) may have the opportunity to teach graduate level courses. Faculty will have advising and institutional service responsibilities as well as continuing in their own scholarship and practice.

 

The Program: Messiah University’s Department of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, including:

  • BSN
  • MSN – Nurse Educator
  • MSN – Nursing Administration
  • MSN MBA - Nursing Administration dual degree
  • DNP/FNP (post BSN)
  • DNP-Nursing Leadership (post master's)

The program enjoys a reputation for high quality classroom and clinical instruction producing well-prepared graduates who are preferred for hire in local and regional health care institutions. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, the master's degree program in nursing, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Messiah University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

 

The Department:  Simulation laboratories include advanced simulation with medium and high-fidelity human simulators. Faculty are committed to the integration of Christian faith in the practice of the nursing profession. Students also have opportunities for cross-cultural experiences and development of intercultural competency is encouraged.

Compensation: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
