Environment:

* Fast paced Ambulatory Surgical Center that specializes in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, pain management, and total joints.

Expectations of position:

* Must be able to think quickly in emergencies, use good judgment and organize their work to assure all patients receive necessary care. Time management skills are particularly important as well.

* Assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management.

* Conducts Nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation, and review of records of the patient.

* Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care.

* Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.

* Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the Interdisciplinary Patient Care Team.

* Administers medications correctly and safely; correctly identifies medication in terms of action, dosage, side effects, and implications for the patient; documents medication correctly; educates patients and significant others related to drug and food interactions; educates patients and significant others related to drug and food interactions.

* Participates in patient and family education; provides patient with an explanation of his/her condition as indicated; recognizes and utilizes health teaching opportunities and resources /materials available for this teaching.

* Reflects a collaborative effort in meeting the needs of the patient and unit through communication and nursing actions.

* Assumes accountability and responsibility for completion and quality of assigned tasks.


Position:

* Full Time R.N for Pre-op & PACU

Hours:

* 40 hours a week / 5 days a week / flexible hours with early or late days

Requirements:

* Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing preferred.

* Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New Jersey.

* BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association required.
