As a Senior Learning & Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional growth within our organization. Your strategic approach will drive the development and implementation of learning initiatives that align with our business goals. Collaborating closely with leadership and business partners, you'll identify training needs focusing on Leadership Development, design effective programs, and evaluate their impact on employee performance and development. In addition to leadership development, you will own and manage our Enterprise Mentoring programs and our enterprise-wide Compliance programs. You will be a self-starter, creative thinker, and thought leader and exhibit a curious approach to problem-solving and solutions design and development.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Leadership Development:
    • Design, Create, and facilitate Manager/Leader initiatives that link back to departmental or organizational strategy and champion leaders at all levels of Gannett. 
    • Identify skill gaps and create targeted learning journeys and experiences for leadership roles.
    • Develop programs, teaching formats, and platforms that are results-driven, creative, innovative, and user-friendly using various blended learning methodologies and delivery methods; including but not limited to: storyboards, facilitator guides, instructor-led classrooms, panels, self-directed learning, structured peer communities, and virtual training with video and synchronous/asynchronous events, using evolving technologies.  
    • Facilitate workshops roundtable discussions and coaching sessions for leadership teams.
    • Serve as a leadership consultant to Business Leaders and People partners at all levels.

 

    • Build strong communication channels, interdepartmental relationships, strategies, and project plans to increase organizational awareness and facilitate the timely completion of all work. 

    • Manage vendor partners for successful development and execution of programs.

 

    • Provide support and coaching structures and processes to participants of all leadership programs. 

 

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of leadership training initiatives.
  1. Enterprise Mentoring Programs:
    • Create, manage, and optimize mentoring programs that support departmental or organizational strategy. 
    • Use the MentorcliQ mentoring platform to match mentors and mentees based on skills, experience, and career goals.
    • Monitor program success and provide ongoing support to participants.
    • Champion mentoring as part of our company culture through promotion, where mentoring is seen as a developmental opportunity, to grow participation in Mentoring Programs.

 

  1. Compliance Training Programs:
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
    • Design, deliver, and manage compliance training programs.
    • End-to-end project management responsibility for the Gannett Enterprise Compliance Program.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders including Legal, Technology, Privacy, and HR teams to address compliance challenges and requirements.
    • Coordination with compliance content vendors as the liaison between stakeholders and the vendor on contract agreements as well as content updates.
    • Update learning content in the vendor-provided platform as needed.
    • Track completion and effectiveness of compliance training.

 

  1. Feedback and Development:
    • Utilize the Predictive Index (PI) assessment tool to evaluate employee behavioral patterns.
    • Interpret PI reports and provide insights to enhance team dynamics and performance.
    • Integrate PI findings into training programs and leadership development.
    • Partner with Business Leaders to identify opportunities to conduct behavioral assessments that drive operational efficiency helping individuals and teams work efficiently and effectively through the measurement of an employee’s natural behavior, drives, and needs to build winning teams.  
    • Drive individual and team effectiveness by administrating 360° surveys as a method of feedback that allows employees, teams, or managers to hear from various people they work with allowing everyone to understand their performance based on diverse perspectives, and zero in on strengths and growth areas. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and work experience in Instructional Design, Workplace Learning, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 7+ years of proven experience in learning and development and a leadership developmental role.
  • 7+ years in learning curriculum design and development.
  • 7+ years of experience in learning consultation.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assess training effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations and industry best practices including but not limited to, Anti-Harassment, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity.
  • Predictive Index certification is a plus

Skills and Knowledge

  • Thought leadership in learning and training initiatives.
  • Competency and proficiency with e-learning platforms and practices.
  • Project management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Learning Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with sharp business acumen

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $68,400 and $140,000.  Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications, and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
