Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Assistant Director of Assessment to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:
  • Provides analysis, summary reporting, and evidence-based recommendations for improvement based on survey outcomes, assessment outcomes, curriculum outcomes, graduation rates, programmatic satisfaction data, sufficiency of resources (e.g., faculty, staff, facilities), and programmatic effectiveness data (e.g., exam pass rates).
  • Develops standardized processes and reporting procedures that provide resources and training to faculty and staff on all aspects of ongoing self-assessment and quality improvement.
  • Assesses the quality of academic assessment plans and reports to ensure they meet stated requirements and provides frequent reporting of assessment metrics.
  • Provides consultation and guidance for the institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement processes for all administrative and educational support services in the college.
  • Provides faculty with ongoing review and feedback of exam outcomes metrics for each pre-clinical and clinical course.
  • Maintains documentation related to data-driven continuous improvement initiatives, processes, and provides regular and annual reports on student performance in board/certification exams.
  • Reviews quantitative and qualitative data from all assessment tools (i.e., data triangulation) and identify trends over time.
  • Regularly reports to oversight and accountability committees and the Institute of Knowledge Management (IKM) regarding status of ongoing evaluation processes and improvement actions.
  • Provides written reports to the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Accreditation and Executive Committees, summarizing significant findings, identifying year-over-year trends, and offering data-driven recommendations for improvement as needed. Additionally, monitors and reports on regional and national trends in physician assistant education.
  • Reviews and provides recommendations in the development of programmatic assessment instruments including reports and surveys.
  • Obtain and utilize data from a variety of sources to help establish and assess internal and external benchmarks.
  • Actively serves as a member of the MPAS Accreditation Committee and MPAS Quality Assurance and Advisory Committee, taking responsibility for preparing assessment-related documentation and drafting assessment-related narratives for ARC-PA reports as required.
  • Coordinates the process of completing annual assessment-related documentation for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and/or other reports as requested by the Office of Academic Planning and Accountability (APA).
  • Actively participates in accreditation site visits.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Education in Math or Statistics.
  • Experience using Classical Test and Item Response Theories to interpret outcomes, cut-scores, predictive analyses, and student and content classification studies.
  • Experience in fostering an assessment culture in collaboration with faculty and administrators.
  • Ability to apply an ethical, student-centered guiding principle to their office.
  • Excellent skills in presenting data (e.g., data visualizations) and information outcomes.
  • Ability to apply consistent analysis principles to a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports and to present technical information in a clear and meaningful way to a variety of audiences.
