JOB PURPOSE:

The Simulation Coordinator is a faculty member who has primary responsibility to organize and support simulation learning experiences that take place in the Nursing skills. This involves collaboration with faculty teaching courses that require practice and clinical simulation experiences in the one or more of the various laboratories. The preferred candidate will have experience in simulation and clinical instruction and be responsible for maintenance of equipment, and ordering supplies. It may also be within this role to teach up to one course per term if necessary.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILIES:

  1. With the Associate Dean of BSN program, develops a simulation center that meets accreditation requirements
  2. Create a learning environment that will enhance students’ ability to use critical thinking and clinical judgment skills
  3. Work closely with departmental and adjunct faculty to plan and implement simulation strategies that will increase student ability to meet accreditation clinical requirements
  4. Maintain records of simulation equipment use, student performance, and data points necessary for Plan budget for equipment and supply needs
  5. Developing and implementing high quality learning and assessment simulations
  6. Evaluating the effectiveness of simulations as educational and assessment tools
  7. Facilitating simulation scenario and student participation with debriefing sessions
  8. Training simulation users in simulation activities, operation of patient simulators, audio-visual equipment, and their maintenance
  9. Coordinating maintenance of patient simulators, part-task trainers, and virtual equipment
  10. Supervise any graduate assistants employed in the Simulation Lab
  11. Teach one nursing course per term
  12. Attend School of Nursing faculty meetings
  13. Participate as a member of the School of Nursing Curriculum Committee
  14. Participate in School of Nursing community activities related to the skills lab, i.e. open houses, accepted students day and tours

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in Nursing; or currently matriculated in a master's program
  • Two or more years of recent clinical nursing experience; preferred medical-surgical nursing experience
  • Minimum of one year teaching experience; academic teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in utilizing simulation technology; designing and implementing innovative teaching strategies
  • Advanced computer skills including word processing and data base management Demonstrated leadership and management
